Sabre for officer

of Mousquetaires de la Garde, 2th Companie.

Called "Black Musketiers". Handle covered with swordfish skin and a wire winding. Vessel made of silver-coloured brass, completely sculpted from oak leaves. A bowl on a musketeer's cross on a sculpted radiant background. Quillon in fleur-de-lis. Flat-backed blade, double fullers, engraved with remnants of bluing and gold, with "H.S." on the heel, with oak branch decoration and musketeer's cross. Scabbard of lacquered leather, with three silver trimmings with foliate decoration, and with two brass rings. Iron tug issued. 

Formed on 15 June 1814, this company, known as "black" because of the coat of its horses, received this sabre only a few months before its disbandment on 1 September 1815.
