
Sabre for officer
Grenadier a Cheval de la Garde de Consul.
Wooden grip with leather cover and filigree pattern. Richly decorated, engraved, chased and gilded brass mount. Skull with a short, chiselled tail in relief, on which sits a lion's mouth. This is encircled by an eight-sided ring with seven stars, the skirts decorated with flowers and a palm tree. Five-armed brass shell handle with a spider's web in the center and a bursting grenade. The four branches extending from the main arm are decorated with rooster heads. These are decorated and end in rosettes of leaves. Quillon with an eagle's head, the beak pointing towards the tip. Curved blade with a round back, etched “Manufacture de Klingenthal Coulaux frères”, with a counter-edge and fuller, one third etched with attributes and weapon trophies. Leather-covered wooden scabbard with three brass mountings, chased and gilt. The dart is made of iron.
