Helmet

for Officers of the Saxon Guard Cavalry Regiment

Dresden. The helmet bowl in an especially lightweight construction, made of gilded tombac, complete with all fittings. Large silver-plated helmet star with coat of arms, convex gilded scale chains with trefoils and screws, both cockades present. Version with a tall, fluted service spike, gilded. Interior fitted with a leather sweatband and silk lining. Condition 2.

The helmet for the Saxon heavy cavalry was introduced in 1876, modeled on the Prussian cuirassier helmets. The same helmet was also worn by the Saxon Carabiniers Regiment (2nd Heavy Regiment).
